SC Prosecutor: 15 More Charged in Gang Crackdown
Fri, July 02, 2010
COLUMBIA — South Carolina's top prosecutor says more than a dozen people have been indicted as part of a statewide gang crackdown.
Attorney General Henry McMaster said Friday 15 members of a gang affiliated with the Bloods have been indicted on charges ranging from conspiracy to armed robbery and murder.
Three people also were charged with murder in the May 2009 death of 17-year-old Sintray Bell. Police say a member of a rival gang shot Bell in the head as he drove by in a car with other gang members.
The arrests came two days after McMaster went to Walterboro to announce that 20 people there had been indicted as part of a crackdown on gang violence in that area. Seven of those people are accused in a November drive-by shooting that killed three people, including a toddler.
