COLUMBIA - The first doses of swine flu vaccine have arrived in South Carolina.
State health officials say several public health department across South Carolina reported getting shipments of the nasal spray vaccine Friday. Department of Health and Environmental Control spokesman Thom Berry says private health providers could have received shipments as well.
DHEC says once officials think there is a sufficient amount of the vaccine in the state, they will begin scheduling clinics.
DHEC says its first order was for about 26,000 doses of the vaccine, and federal officials have allowed the state to make a second order for about 27,000 more doses.
DHEC says the state could get up to 2 million doses of swine flu vaccine by the end of December.
