Officials Discuss How to Rebuild Old SC School
Associated PressTue, July 28, 2009
Dillon District 2 officials plan to rebuild J.V. Martin Junior High with help from interest-free loans approved by legislators in May. President Obama brought attention to the school several months earlier, when he mentioned a letter from eighth-grader Ty'Sheoma Bethea that asked for help replacing her run-down school.
A two-day conference is being held in Columbia on how to build a model school that combines technology and architecture to meet students' education and social needs. Bethea and Dillon 2 Superintendent Ray Rogers will be on a panel Tuesday to discuss how a new J.V. Martin could be that case study.
