Citizens Ask Governor Sanford If He Can Focus On Job

GREENVILLE — Several people who say they support South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford questioned his ability to focus during his remaining time in office.

Sanford addressed a Rotary Club in Greenville on Thursday afternoon, as he continues to travel around the state asking for forgiveness for an affair with a woman in Argentina.

Jon Rogers asked Sanford to convince him that the governor could stay focused in his last 16 months in office. Sanford said he wouldn't still be in office if he didn't think he could concentrate on being governor.

He says he hopes he'll be productive since everyone knows his goals aren't tied to future political aspirations.

Sanford spent most of his speech talking about government restructuring. But the first two questions were from people who said they voted for him and had concerns about his ability to lead.
