WLCN is a low-powered television station which began broadcasting on June 12th, 2009, the same day that many other stations were making the transition to Digital Broadcasting. The signal can be found on the digital dial at 18.1, 18.2, and 18.3. It is also located on channel 98 on Knology.
The LCN portion of its name stands for "Lowcountry Community Network", which is one major difference between WLCN and other local television stations. Not only is Channel 18 providing local, national and international news, but also provides a wide array of local programming. Local items of interest include parades, high school football, semi-professional hockey, church services, concerts and much more. The operation has also opened its doors to anyone who has ever wanted to produce family-friendly programming, which is why you will find locally produced progamming like "Faith & Finances", "Daughters of Charleston", "Ask a Pastor" and "The Panel"
Aside from local programming, WLCN is providing quality, family-friendly entertainment around the clock. Channel 18 is a "Retro Television Network" affiliate, which features classic television series from the 1970's, 80's and 90's. Programming also comes from "My Family TV" television network, and movies from MGM.
